Who Can Adopt from Haiti?
- Couples married seven years or longer
- Single women, at least 30 years old
- 33 years and older for married couples, with at least one spouse 35 years old (Haitian government may have some discretion)
- Religion: Christian
- Annual income of more than $20,000.
Children Available for Adoption
- Children range in age from infants to 16 years of age
Length of Process
- 12-18 months from submission of dossier and accepted referral.
Travel to Haiti
- 3-5 days unless an unusual circumstance.
- It is a possibility to use an escort in lieu of travel.
Health of Children
- Before the recent disaster, Haiti was already a very poor country with very little resources. The medical facilities prior to the earthquake were not adequate.
- Prior to your adoption, a physician approved by the United States government will examine your child and you will receive the results from this examination. If there are any medical issues, you have the option to adopt a different child.
