Post-Placement Adoption Services

Even after your children come home and are adjusting to your family, MLJ continues to offer services. Our post-placement services are available to all families touched by adoption, not just clients of MLJ. Even thought the adoption in complete in your child's country of origin, a readoption is necessary in your home state. We will assist you with this process if you live in Indiana. For our families in other states or countries, you will likely need to hire an attorney locally to help you with this process. 

Many countries require some type of post-placement reporting to them to ensure that your child is thriving in his or her new environment. Some countries require family-submitted reports, others require agency-submitted reports, and still other countries require a mixture of the two. It is important that you know what is required from the country from which you adopted and follow through to ensure no further restrictions are placed on the adoption process for children still waiting for families. We can assist Indiana families in completing agency-submittd reports in a timely manner. Often your post-placement reports will be completed by the same friendly Home Study Coordinator that helped you through the home study process. We very much enjoy getting to see how the children are growing, developing, and attaching. 

At MLJ Adoptions, we recognize that parenting in adoption often requires more of parents and there is always room for growth in how we work with our kids. It is important to us to provide the support necessary to encourage adoptive families, equip parents with new techniques and information, and empower families through difficult times. We offer support without judgement through 1:1 support calls or meetings, group meetings, and family counseling. Our Support Specialists are educated, trained, experienced with the special issues that affect children and families in adoption, and supervised by a licensed mental health counselor. We believe that continued support and education is imperative for families that adopt and hope that you will consider taking advantage of our Support Services. 

Many of our Adoption Education elective classes are helpful even after your child comes home as you continue to grow as a family and as individuals. All clients of MLJ are welcome to return to required classes in which they have previously participated at any time if they would like a refresher or to review the material.
