DOMESTIC ADOPTION PROGRAM

The following is a general overview of beginning the domestic adoption process in conjunction with the law firm of Jocham, Harden, Dimick, Jackson, PC (JHDJ):

• Prospective Adoptive Parents (PAP) complete Application
• Execute Adoption Agreement
• Profile preparation session (up to 1 hour with paralegal)
• PAP receive Adoption Marketing Guidebook
• Additional legal consultation (up to 1 hour with attorney)
• Complete 4 hours of Adoption Education
• PAP receive Financing Your Adoption Guidebook
• 12-month Listing in JHDJ Law’s parent profiles database consisting of marketing your profile and review by expectant parents.
• Potential Match with Expectant Mother
• Meeting with Expectant Mother facilitated by MLJ team member
• Match with Expectant Mother
• Expectant Mother and PAP determine level of comfort regarding contact, attendance at medical appointments, etc.
• Placement
• Attorney obtains a legal Decree of Adoption through court

Total cost of adoption services are generally $16,000 and up. REMEMBER you may be eligible for the Federal Adoption tax credit (more than $13,000 for 2011) for any adoption fees (including fees associated with matching efforts, even when there was not a completed or successful adoption).
