For Indiana residents, MLJ Adoptions, Inc. will act as your service provider for home studyadoption preparation education, attorney document and contract review, consultations, authentications, readoption, etc; however, your adoption agency will be one approved by the Russian government. 

 

Who Can Adopt from Russia?

  • Married couples can adopt and do not have to be married for a specified amount of time.
  • Single women can adopt children over 6 years old and can also adopt special needs children. This may be restricted in near future.
  • must be at least 25 years of age and less than 55.

 

Children Available for Adoption

  • Children 8 months of age through school age children are available for adoption. Children that are part of sibling groups and/or have special needs may be available.
  • Healthy children are available and adoptive parents are provided with a medical report. There have been instances of children returning with minor health problems and the adoptive parent must be educated regarding this risk.
  • Children available for adoption are living in Russian orphanages, which are generally adequately staffed and receive appropriate attention. There are no guarantees regarding the previous care of a Russian orphan.
  • The children may not receive the proper nutrition by U.S. standards.
  • Children’s ethnicity is typically Caucasian.
