MLJ Adoptions, Inc. is very excited to announce that our first Canadian family has completed their adoption from Democratic Republic of Congo and have brought home their child! We at MLJ are overjoyed about this accomplishment and want to extend our warm congratulations to this family!

Our first Canadian family came to us wanting desperately to adopt from Africa. After trying unsuccessfully with a previous agency, this family decided to adopt from Congo and came on board as our first Canadian family to enter the Democratic Republic of Congo adoption program. Being our first Canadian family to adopt from Africa came with the realization that their adoption process would be the trail blazer to allow other Canadians to follow in their footsteps.

Adoption is a very emotional and lengthy process and this family persevered through the steps necessary to complete their adoption process in DRC. Completing their home study, adoption education, lots of paper shuffling, phone calls to government agencies in Canada and in Africa, as well as some hiccups and bumps, they navigated their process as Canadian pros! Our staff both domestically and foreign, worked very hard to see this family through their process and do it as timely and ethical as possible. Working with our first Canadian family allowed us to explore the adoption process path in Canada as well as to open the Congo program to additional Canadian families. Since this family initially began their process, to date, we have welcomed several more Canadian families into our DRC adoption program as well as forming collaborative relationships with some Canadian adoption agencies. This family’s little princess, when she arrived in Canada, represented our 115th child home to date! As the first agency to establish a program in Democratic Republic of Congo we have seen this program grow and now have extended the opportunity to adopt to Canadian families.

The need for adoptive families continues to be great in Congo, as well as many other countries in Africa. With our neighbors in Canada now on board, it provides MLJ the possibility of placing even more children in need with loving homes and families. We are very excited to be working with our Canadian families and agencies and extend a warm welcome to all of you!

Welcome home to this family and their little princess! We thank you for your continued ministry to help other families decide to move forward with adoption. We extend our warmest wishes for many happy and loving days with the new addition to their family, from all of us, both domestic and foreign staff of MLJ.
