Dec

The month of December kicks off the shopping season. Whether you are celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa, it’s a time when many of us try our best to find the perfect gift for our loved ones. Moms can be particularly difficult to buy for. Moms are always giving so much of themselves to others. What gift can you give a mom in your life that truly thanks her and shows her how special she is? Below are a few ideas specifically for adoptive moms that have already adopted or are in the process of adopting.

Jewelry: There are a variety of jewelry options for adoptive moms. You may also think about jewelry for each person in the family with a similar theme, matching sibling jewelry, or matching mother-daughter jewelry.

  • This adoption map pendant allows you to select any area of the world to wear around your neck and close to your heart. Great for waiting moms.
  • This coordinates compass necklace allows you to select coordinates for where your child lived before placement or is currently residing.
  • This unique personalized locket necklace has a cut out of the child’s country and a personalized saying behind the cut out. One of the common phases selected is “I searched the world for you.”

Home-Made: What mom doesn’t appreciate hand-made items from the heart?

  • Sweet treats are always a great gift. Try making a sweet treat from the child’s birth country and include the recipe.
  • This Anywhere Chair is a great gift for moms adopting a little one. A little sewing is involved, but it looks well worth the effort.
  • Love this Embroidered Geography Pillow

Country Specific Gifts: Those that have adopted from another country often have a strong affinity for all things related to that country.

  • Africa – An ornament can be a great gift that reflects a country. This ornament is in the shape of Africa and says “Love".
  • This Forever Family ornament commormates the year and has a sweet message, "Joined at the heart."
  • Asia – Chinese proverb red thread necklace with the proverb "An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstances. The thread may stretch or tangle, but never break." – Ancient Chinese Proverb
