Jackson to Speak on Universal Accreditation Act at NCFA

In recognition of this experience, Michele Jackson, MLJ Adoption’s founder and CEO, has been invited to share her legal expertise with adoption professionals from across the United States at the National Council for Adoption Annual Conference.

Jackson will be sitting on a panel of professionals speaking on the Universal Accreditation Act and how it is changing the legal landscape of international adoption. UAA is scheduled to go into effect next month and will significantly impact prospective adoptive parents who desire to adopt internationally from non-Hague countries. It is imperative that Adoption Service Provider’s understand the implications of UAA in order to best serve their families.

Jackson earned her Juris Doctor from the Indiana University School of Law in 2000 after graduating from Anderson University in 1997. She has dedicated her career to fighting for the world’s most vulnerable children and the families who set out to adopt them. Jackson is the founder of the Global Orphan Foundation, a not-for-profit organization which provides support to the adopting family and orphaned and vulnerable children worldwide. She is also a founding partner of Harden Jackson, LLC, which specializes in family law and she has served as an Adjunct Law Professor at the IU School of Law, Indianapolis, where she taught on international law. She was named an Angel in Adoption in 2012 for her tireless commitment to adoption.

Adoption is not only a professional passion for Jackson, but also a personal one. She is the mother to two boys whom she and her husband adopted from Democratic Republic of Congo and a daughter from Nicaragua. She serves on numerous charitable boards and supports a variety of causes. Whether at home or in one of her many offices, Jackson devotes every day to serving children in need. She looks forward to sharing her knowledge with other adoption service providers at the 2014 NCFA Annual conference.
